Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, who also created car designs for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, BMW and Lancia this sensational British classic was robustly built, with good handling and was easy on the eye too. Not so much of the cool sweeping curves of its two-seater contemporaries; more of a robust, upright profile for a coupé that gave the Herald an open, honest appeal, as well as plenty of room in the back!
Advertising positioned the 1200 Herald as having sports car performance – with bucket seats, four-speed gear shift, “bump-smoothing” independent suspension, which Corgi replicated with their legendary ‘Glidamatic’ suspensions and accurate rack and pinion steering.
The Triumph Herald featured on TV screens such as Heartbeat, the movie Paper Tiger and not forgetting the powerful moment when it was used at the 2012 London Olympic Games, during the beginning of the closing ceremony when cars paraded around the stadium.
The Triumph Herald is a true British Classic and now, we are delighted to have re-created this fully authentic die-cast reissue completely faithful to the 1961 model – of course at a fraction of the cost of an original! What a story, what a car, what a model!
