          The battle gained notoriety as a ferocious struggle on a titanic scale. To this day it remains the largest tank battle in miltary history – one that ended in failure for the Nazis. The Russians were more than ready, the Red Army constructing an impressive bulwark of defences to counter the terrifying Tigers. Once they had been stopped dead in their wide, clanking tracks, the pathway was clear for the Russians to advance towards Berlin.
