275 - Rover 2000 TC

£39.99

Introduced into the Corgi range in April 1968, Corgi 275, the Rover 2000 TC, was one of the famous ‘Golden Jacks’. Available in green or white, it was only the second ‘take-off wheels’ model, following the launch of the Mini Marcos (Corgi 341) the previous month.

The features didn’t end there as the Rover was also given an attractive yellow-tinted sun roof. And because the actual car famously featured a spare wheel on top of the boot, Corgi followed suit with a small plastic encloure that popped open to reveal a miniature spare wheel! Despite all these exciting features, 275’s casting was based on the much earlier Corgi 252 Rover 2000, which dated back to 1963.

Fantastic car

When I was growing up and playing with Corgi toys in the early 70s we had this one but minus the wheels. The new version is a real treat. I’ve given it to my five-year-old son to play with and he also loves it.

A superb model

I waited expectantly for this model as the Rover 2000 has always been a favourite. I was not disappointed. CMC have again produced a superb reproduction of the original apart from the "Made in Great Britain" on the base. I still have my original model (although not the box) and cannot fins any difference between the two apart from the lovely sheen on the new model. Every effort appears to have been made to replicate the original car as CMC have done with all of the other models so far produced. It was such a great idea for these models to be made available again and I am sure like myself have pleased so many of the original Corgi fans. Given CMC have the tooling in place for the Rover perhaps I could ask that we also have the original 2000 in the future. Lets keep the models coming and perhaps look at some lorries and vans as well. A great job CMC.

Remember my first Trip to England...

...in the middle of the 70th...I alrady owed that beautiful "Golden-Jacks"- Model, when I came to Walmer, Deal and also Margate to study english for school. And than- my host-parents where waiting for me at Deal/Walmer- Coach Park...with a brown Rover 2000 TC. I recognized it immediately. A "Big Corgi Toy". Years later I bought one used Rover TC in Germany and drove it since 2012.
These days I collect old Corgi Toys "Made in GB " again....and - of course- those amazing Models "Designed in GB, Margate". I love them. Cheers. Armin
