485 - BMC Mini Countryman

This feature-laden Mini Countryman model was an all-new tooling despite its similarity with the earlier (448) Mini Police Van. A bold release from the Corgi team, the star feature was undoubtedly its roof-mounted surf board, complete with a plastic surfer figure. Jewelled headlights and an aerial completed the look. It was introduced into the range in 1965 and stayed in production until 1969.

Despite being manufactured for four years it was only ever painted aqua green. In an additional note for Mini enthusiasts, there were two versions of the actual car. Morris-badged Minis were known as the Traveller, whereas Corgi chose to model the near-identical Austin variant, the Countryman.

Another Winner from Corgi

Beautifully packaged with great retro styled box art, from the moment you open the box this little model does not disappoint, superb attention to detail, beautiful paint finish, this is a well-crafted visually attractive toy that adds colour and spectacle to any model collection and sits beautifully with previous examples in this wonderful reproduction collection of the toys many of us loved and grew up with.
Well Done the Corgi Collectors team.

The Surfer

Once again The Corgi Model Club have come up with a iconic model of the BMC Mini Countryman including opening rear doors, roof rack, surf boards and surfing figure along with his rather high and tight buggie smugglers !
The colour, attention to detail, jewelled headlights, roof rack, aerial, surf boards and figure are all superb, a joy to handle and look at, a must for every collector and enthusiastic, well done to the Corgi Model Club, more power to their elbow.
