247 - Mercedes Benz Pullman

£37.99

This 1964-issued Corgi was given a unique and exciting feature – windscreen wipers that appeared to sweep from side to side thanks to an ingenious mechanism connected to the model’s rear axle. A switch on the base turned the wipers on and off.

Rather curiously, the Pullman was produced in two similar colours – a dark cerise and a burgundy. Both versions had the same detailed cream interior with rear passenger windows that could be lowered. The bumpers, grille and side strips were in plated chrome, the front headlights picked out in silver and the rear lights in orange. In line with other Corgi Toys of this era, Corgi 247 was given Glidamatic suspension. It was deleted from the Corgi range in 1969 after sales of around 977,000.

Excellent Re-Issue Model

Great Britain, Australia, USA.
The model was played with a lot and at some point the paint came off, the windows were damaged and so on.
I've been looking for the Corgi 247 Mercedes-Benz Pullman for years (for example on Ebay.) But unused models in top condition are "priceless" - or more precisely: I'm not prepared to pay these high prices.
So I was happy when I found out about this re-issue model.
The model is excellent! The model vpm 1964 is “a spitting image”. Function of the windshield wipers, the reprint of the instructions, etc.
Personally, I'm not that happy with the box.
The image on the packaging is darker and more "washed out" than on the packaging at the time.
The reprint of the other models that I own as re-issues (258 "The Saint's Volvo P 1800, 437 Cadillac Superior Ambulance) is better.
Anyway, keep it up!

keep it up!

I would like to thank those responsible for this “nostalgia operation”!
Thank you for remembering to bring out reference 307: I never received it at the time...

A little disappointed with this one :(

The quality of the paint and trim on this model is superb and for display it looks amazing. However the suspension is poor and the opening rear windows are loose fitting so are always open. Not a deal breaker but if CMC are going to have these features then they should function properly. As one of the higher priced models in the range the quality control should be better.
