Brought back many cherished memories of my childhood when my mother bought this brand new on its original release. I played with it for many hours in our Lino floor, only to lose Robin some time later when I strapped him to the coal fireplace in the hope Batman would save him in time before the flames reached him. Sadly he wasn’t quick enough and all I could do was to watch him melt on the grate.
The first one came in the red colour, the second (fortunately) came in the blue. I am disappointed in the quality of them. Neither of these have working lights!
This is a lovely model, well made and the paint and decals are spot on. Nice addition to the collection
This is a lovely model and is exactly how I remember it as a child. Very nicely made and detail is great, love the opening tool box.
As a Corgi fan since day one in 1956 (I was just a tad younger then) I remember the announcement of the 1126 Ecurie Ecosse transporter in October 1961 and becoming an instant, although disappointed, enthusiast. Disappointed not with the model, but with price; there was no way I could afford 17/11d (90p in todays money.) to buy one. However, on 25th December Christmas arrived (oddly enough!) and with it my Ecurie Ecosse transporter. I tell this story because thanks to Mum, Dad and Corgi I had what has become my most memorable childhood Christmas. Add to that, in my stocking on that day not only was there the traditional apple and an orange, but also Corgi Gift Set GS5s giving me the three Corgi racing cars to travel on the transporter.
My Corgi Club model arrived on 22nd December, very nearly 64 years to the day from the arrival of my original model. And it delivered the same feeling of thrill as I got when lifting the lid of the box that first time in 1961.
This is a superb model re-creating every detail of the original and the finish is outstanding. The models box and packaging are equally well reproduced (accepting the legal bits and safety warnings on the base of the box). and in equivalent value, no more expensive than the original.
I still have my 1961 model in its box and the three racing cars of gift set GS5s So come on Corgi Model Club, what about set GS5s to go with your Ecurie Ecosse transporter???
