Issued in 1968 in the wake of the success of 1965’s gold Corgi 261, the all-new Corgi 270 gave fans what they’d been calling for – a James Bond Aston Martin DB5 in silver, just like the movie car! It was produced in a slightly larger 1:43 scale (as opposed to Corgi 261’s 1:46) to allow for two exciting new features – revolving number plates and pull-out rear wheel tyre slashers.

However, it retained the earlier model’s ejector seat, pop-out machine guns and overriders, as well as the rear bullet-proof shield. This Corgi Model Club Gold Grille Edition, which replicates the classic period-correct Corgi 270 livery, is presented in a facsimile of the original’s iconic illustrated packaging and comes complete with the all-important secret instructions, lapel sticker and a spare bad guy. Despite being one of Corgi’s all-time best sellers, precious few survive today in pristine condition.

I love the corgi models I have but something I've always wanted is a fireball xl5 model. Please think about it.

James Bond 270 gold bumper

Firstly I’m a massive fan of cmc and I love love all the models they do they try to replicate the originals best they can keep up the good work . The 270 has got a very yellow gold bumper and when it arrived it looked different around the back wheel arch almost like the suspension has failed (even though it hasn’t ) that’s my honest opinion but I’m definitely NOT unhappy with it

Close but no cigar :(

I applaud the effort in trying to bring back the iconic 1960's corgi models but this one has a few let downs unfortunately. When compared to my original model the gold bumpers just seem too yellowy gold and shiny and the features mechanisms are not as crisp as the original, particularly the rear shield. But the worst feature for me is the rear wheel arches! They are the wrong size and shape as the original had a more squared-off shape and cleared the rear tyre. Because of this, the model just looks wrong to me with the round arches and low tyre clearance. I think the rear suspension has suffered a little too due to the packaging strap compressing the model.
I do like the presentation packaging that contains the model and it is a fair facsimile of the original pack.
All in all a 3 out of 5 is my score and it won't be front and centre in my display.

Fantastic and Authentic 270 007!

A great job, well done! Just like the original 270 007 that I had back in 1968 like the one in the photo. This new edition has the exact same colours, features and packaging as the original; you’ve done an amazing and authentic job. Thank you! And now I can’t wait for the Green Hornet etc. If you ever did some of the Captain Scarlet vehicles and other Gerry Anderson vehicles I know you would make a fantastic job of them too.
