236 - Austin A60 De Luxe Saloon Motor School Car

£39.99

One the most iconic Corgi Toys of the 1960s, the Austin A60 ‘De Luxe Saloon’ Motor School Car featured a red wheel on its roof that enabled the model to steer. There was even an accompanying ‘learn to drive’ leaflet in the box – perfect for young learner drivers!

Introduced in June 1964, Corgi 236 was right-hand drive but was complemented by an otherwise identical left-hand drive version for the export market, Corgi 255. Corgi 236 came in a slightly lighter blue than its left-hand drive counterpart. Both stayed in production until 1968. Perhaps unsurprisingly the quintessentially British Austin A60 didn’t help sales abroad, Corgi 236 out-selling 255 by around two to one. Both versions came with a miniature instructor and learner driver.

Childhood memories 2.0

WoW. What an item.
More precisely casting and much better coating than the original 50 years ago.
An absolute iconic little toy car.
Highly functional and comfortable to drive due it’s spring suspension.

Austin A 60

The Austin model is a flashback to my youth more than 50 years ago.
This model is absolutely like the original, very nice and perfect with the steering.

Wonderful and accurate steering

What a truly astonishing model. It's beautifully presented in its period box and I'm convinced that the steering is tighter and very accurate when compared with the original. If you are learning to drive and having difficulty in parking, I'm convinced that this model will help you in thinking about when you need to start turning and in which direction. I had this car as a youngster in the 1960's and to have it again and now on a display shelf after having 'testing it', has put a huge smile on my face.
