267 - Batmobile Red Wheels 60th Anniversary Edition (expected to ship November)

£39.99

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the 1966 Batmobile, we’ve issued this unique and fully licensed Corgi Model Club edition of one of the most unusual and highly sought after Corgi Batmobiles ever produced.

Originally made by Corgi in 1972 for just six short months, this pre-Whizzwheels Batmobile has unusual red tyres on 8-spoke hubs. The story goes that a production error at Corgi’s famous Fforestfach factory resulted in a large quantity of red wheels. Not wishing to waste them despite the error, Corgi bosses ordered they be used on the production line – and the ‘Red Wheels’ legend was born!

Manufacture ended when all red wheels were used up. And that was that... until now! For reasons unknown, the majority of Corgi Batmobiles with red wheels seemed to have been shipped to the USA – most notably in the Corgi GS3 Batmobile & Batboat gift set.

As always the Batmobile comes complete with its period correct packaging with twelve small missiles for the fully working rocket launcher, plus an envelope containing an instruction sheet as well as that all important Batman lapel sticker!
