330 - Porsche Carrera 6

£33.99

Originally only available for two years – between 1967 and 1969 – this detailed Porsche Carrera 6 is typical of the high quality models Corgi produced during their ‘golden era’. Whereas it was only available in white, there were two versions, with either a red or blue bonnet and doors – the latter being much rarer. The tinted clear plastic in the rear section that hinges upwards to reveal a detailed chrome and black engine, was based on a similar feature on the actual car.

The red bonnet version utilised a deep blue plastic but for the blue bonnet model it was either yellow or pale blue. As was frustratingly typical for many Corgi’s of this period, the box art depicted a totally different colour car – in this case, green! Corgi later reissued the red bonnet version during the 1970s Whizzwheels era.

Good But Lacks Quality

This repro sadly lacks the Porsche logo on the underside so not quite comparable but still a good representation of the original. However the engine block fell out when I opened the rear cover and I had to use epoxy resin to put it back in place so the original quality is lacking.

Almost Perfect

This is a lovely car and one of my favourite releases so far.
I've given it 4 stars as it doesn't have the exquisite printed Carrera 6 name and logo on the boot that the red one from the Corgi shop has (not a clear label). I really wish CMC had done the same with the blue/ white car. Then it would be perfect.

I was quite ambivalent about getting this model, my main reason for collecting these cars is to either replace the ones I used to have as a child or to finally get the ones I was unable to obtain back then. However, I do think that this is a lovely little model and will be a great companion to the Ferrari Berlinetta if that ever comes out. Only quibble is that I think to say that there is a "detailed engine" is pushing it a bit.
