The James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 261 was released well into Corgi’s lifespan as a company, but its release heralded what would be considered the golden years of diecast toy cars worldwide.
Packed with features, this re-release is very faithful to the original version, and, in lieu of the original moulds, has been delicately crafted from the ground up to a near exact replica.
Whilst I have found that occasionally, in some cases the ejector seat is not always as cleanly sprung when activated 100% of the time as the originals mostly were, and the body paint is a slightly deeper, more vibrant gold than the original 1965 version, it’s still a fantastic model and any Corgi or James Bond enthusiast needs to own this re-release.
As the original is no longer for sale as new, this is a perfectly viable - and official - alternative. It comes with everything that the original did, down to the spare bad guy and the secret instructions and sticker.
This is one of my favourite toys of all time, up there with Kenner’s 1977 Star Wars line-up and the original GameBoy.
Brilliant model cant wait for more
