Originally introduced into the Corgi range in October 1961, Corgi 1126, the Ecurie Ecosse Racing Car Transporter, is one of the most desirable die-cast models of its era. Featuring two decks, allowing three racing cars to be transported, the model also features a workshop, complete with benches and a miniature vice – all visible via a sliding door.
Although more expensive than a regular Corgi Toy, this impressive ‘Corgi Major’ was larger and worth every penny! It was available in two metallic colours – in deep blue (as per this Corgi Model Club edition and faithful to the actual vehicle) and a paler blue. Both variants were fitted with self-centring steering. Corgi 1126 was also available in Gift Set 16, complete with three Corgi racing cars. Production of ceased in 1965 after sales of around 145,000 – with the gift set selling an additional 90,000.
