The No 256 East African Safari Beetle is my favourite Corgi car ever bar none. I had this one too as a kid but didn’t like it as much because I found the roof beacon less satisfactory for operating the steering as it was smaller and fiddlier than the spare wheel on the rally version so it is great to see that the steering on this replica is much smoother than I recall on the original…or perhaps I have just gotten more dexterous? This is another fine replica from the Club and another lovely artefact in its own right which looks very well on display beside my original 1965 East Africa version. Corgi Model Club replicas are rapidly becoming essential purchases. Keep ‘em coming, folks.
